Hi All,

I'm just wanting to gather some oppinions on how people have moved large catfish in the past, what were the catfish, what worked, what didn't, anything for future reference etc etc.

Also, if you could shed some light on big cats such as RTC, Lima etc not eating after a big move?

Thanks!

Miss KP :)

Depends on the size of the fish, what type of move... from one tank to another... from one house to another... from a city to another...Lots of variables for what to do to "move" them

It's completely a normal process for Cats to not want to eat when they are stressed (like a big move or even to much of a water change sometimes) these Hunger strikes usually arn't anything to worry about as most of our Big Cats can afford to miss a few meals with no ill effects, There are some reports of people having their cats go on Hunger strikes of more than a few MONTHS!!

I've moved about 3 times in the last 3 years so I've really found a system that works for me. I bought a bunch of those large rubbermaid storage bins and portable air pumps that are sold in a bait & tackle shop or even walmart. I even bought some fluval internal filters and extra titanium heaters that I keep on hand for the inevitable "just in case" scenario.

I lay down all the rows in my SUV, pack in the bins, fill them with tank water and get everything going (filters/heaters if it's a very long trip...one was 6 hours) and then add the fish last minute. That's worked for me, but if it's a short trip, like when Stick~Rice bought my big jar I just used a styro...and he's 16".
