There's a pet store going out of business and they have some pike cichlids that I want. I want to put them in my 125g, but if I put them in right now my aro (~18-20") will probably eat them. The other alternative is to put them in my 55g with 10 exodon tetras and a pictus cat. Is there a chance that the pike cichlids will get along with the exodon tetras until I can find my aro a new home? The tetras are about 2-2.5", and the pike cichlids, I think, are about 3-4". I don't know their latin name, but the pike cichlids have a plain silver body with a red outline on their fins.

Which tank would be the best bet?

Or should I just let somebody else buy the pike cichlids? Last time I was in the pet store, they only had 3 pike cichlids left.

I'd pass on them and save up for an aro tank upgrade :grinyes:

exodon tnak if you aro is agressive my aros wont touch a live fish no matter the size i have had them in with 1" fish and they never touched them... depends on how agressive your aro is do you feed him live feeders???
I still haven't figured out this fish. He has a couple of tankmates that he hasn't eaten (yet haha), but other tankmates I put in with them have disappeared. He ate a 6 or 7" needle fish last week, but he's been living with a 5-6" blue cat for about 5 or 6 weeks. Also hasn't bothered the pleco or the chinese algea eaters. Most of the time I feed him either frozen silversides or frozen shrimp tails, but on occasion I'll put some feeders in there.

My friend just told me about some exotic pet store that may be able to find somebody interested in my aro, if I can get rid of him before Sunday when the other pet store closes for good, I'll pick up the pike cichlids.

Rallysman, there's no way I'll be able to afford an aro upgrade before this aro outgrows the 125. Not only would I need the bigger tank set-up, I'd have to buy a bigger house to put it in, too.

Thats understandable, I hope you find someone that will take him off of your hands so you can get the others
