i bought a 110g acrylic tank this morning. the tank was set up when i showed up and i helped the owner break it down. (breeding pair of O's are vicious!!)

when i started cleaning i noticed this on the bottom panel of the tank. all the other panels don't have this on them.

is this safe?

second question, this is the stand that was under the tank... the tank is 5' but the stand is only 4', the guy cut 2x4s into 5' pieces and placed them side by side on top of the stand so the tank overhung the stand 6" on each side. is this safe? and can this stand support +800 lbs? or should i reinforce it? the guy claimed he's had the tank up and running 2+ years like that with no problems.

thanks for the help!!

that tank is on its way out. im guessing the 2x4's only supported it front and back but not in the middle and that's why it looks like that. i would not use that tank and def not with that stand.

Woa that bottom panel looks like it's about to shatter any minute.... I would not fill that!

thanks guys, the tank was only $75.00 i'm just going to cut my loses and sell it as a reptile only tank. no biggie, lesson learned. lol

Might be able to pull off a shallow paladarium (less pressure from less water)... could be pretty awesome with those dims too.

i thought about doing something with it, but i think in reality, i'm going to clean up the stand and use it for my 55g and just sell the tank for whatever i can get for it.

Just tossing this out. but you could take it to an plastics company have them cut the bottom and replace it. When My tank crazed like that I was told by the tank maker they could cut the front panel off and replace it. I would loose an inch.

Great price if it wasn't on it's way out.

The clean up wouldn't be worth the $75.

A piece of acrylic that size is gonna be $75 alone.

Good call on just selling it as a reptile tank. :)
