Optimal Temp for Istlanum Cichlids?

This article says "the perfect temp for these cichlids is 31.5 C or 89 degrees i think. That is the Highest i have ever heard of keeping a tanks water temp. Can anybody confirm this as the best temp to keep them at?

I kept mine at about 81 and went to 76 to trigger them to spawn. Worked every time and they were as healthy (looking/acting) as any Ive seen.

They're from Mexico...so 89 as an everyday temp makes no sense.

I kept mine at room temp in my fishroom, which is about 74. Crank it up to 80 for breeding..

89 is probably a misprint. Probably should have been 79 with spawning in the low 80's.

Ya thats what i figured but they seem to have quite a bit of evidence to back it. But it is not worth losing a perfectly good cichlid to find out.

78 degrees, up to 80 if you want to increase spawning chances.

I've raised my pair and tons of fry at 82. You will be fine anywhere between 76-83. Which ever temp you go then do the opposite when ready to spawn. Ie; if you keep at 82 then drop to 76 to spawn and visa versa. I kept mine at 82 the entire time with cooler water changes and they spawned every 6 weeks like clockwork.
