Hello every one I am looking to what simple options there are for an inline water filter to put in between you cold water line, and your faucet for better water quality for water changes not a R.O system. I am not sure of what you would use, what you are looking to take out, and what you want to leave in. I know your are a lot of different simply options to make crap water drinkable out of the tap and looking for suggestion on what you can run inline to improve water quality with out removing trace elements that are desired. Thanks for your time. Im sure this has been covered a million times I can not find the threads thow,

Describe why you feel your tap water is crap, and provide values that show it is. Consider the type of fish you want to keep, and what are their needs. Only then should one consider any kind of filters. Good luck!

If you are in the U.S., you can go to your city's EPA Water Quality Report and get a comprehensive breakdown of all organic and inorganic water parameters.
The EPA requires all majors cities drinking water suppliers in U.S.to provide a yearly report.
This will give you a idea what you need to filter out (or not)
