Got this tank filter hood lights and heater for 190 om craigslist. Its a 108 gallon 5ftlx1.5wx2fth. Kind of an odd size. I want to have one huge fish in there with maybe one catfish and thats it. What are my options? I want the biggest and baddest fish that would be ok in there for a few years. I was thinking one big cichlid, or maybe an arowana if i can pull it off. Let me know thoughts foltration will be high with emperor 400 and fluval 406 canister both running! Thanks!

You could do pretty much anything other than a dovii/umbee if it's going to be alone. too small for an arowana, you really need minimum 180 even for the smaller species. If it were my tank, i'd do something along the lines of haitensis or trimac, get like 6 juveniles and grow them out until you find a beastly male, then sell the rest.

The tank isn't really suited for a fish that gets over 12". But you have some good choices like a GT, which are beautiful and have personality. A catfish would be fine with a GT.

I'd put a male
Green terror
Carpintis
Midas
Oscar

Thanks for the feedback i like the black nasty idea for single fish. Id prob have to order it though the lfs never has them. Anyone have experience with red devils or buttikoferi?

If some one keeps them and knows different please correct me. But I was under the impression Buttikoferi get up to 18 inches. So I'd say probably not a good idea. Red devil are like the midas twin. They make good wet pets, I know here is lots of fans
