What would be the biggest tank you would trust with average furniture including:

A dresser
Kitchen counter (newer construction)
Bookcases that have adjustable shelves

I know my desk wouldn't handle more than about a 10 gallon safely (100lb weight limit on the only big enough surface)

I am hoping to possibly set up a tank on the dresser (it SEEMS sturdy) if it is an option at least for now. If not I can probably make a stand or have one made by a friend of mine.

I had a 20g and a 5g on my dresser, it's a pretty beefy dresser though. I had my 50g hex on a sheet of MDF sitting on an end table for a long time too.

If it's not made of crappy fiberboard it should hold some weight. If you are unsure, don't risk it. I was 100% confident in both of these scenarios though.

Yeah, I was thinking that since the furniture isn't mine :)

I am limited on space due to being in an apartment, but it is a concrete slab floor with carpet directly over it so if I manage to arrange things correctly I shouldn't have much to worry about weight wise other than the stand itself

I wouldnt put anything over a 15 gallon tank on any dresser/table.

what tank size are you looking at?

30-55 gallon. I will probably build a stand with a friend of mine who has done a lot of wood working.
