Are you looking for something easy or difficult?

if you are looking for something a hypancistrus but something different and a little cheaper than l46 could be the l333, they still have the zebra feel with black and white and they stay pretty small, so easy to accommodate. or queen arabesque, l260.

L66s are readily available also. Some pseudacanthicus might be interesting to try. L96 and l97 have been done before

What size tank are you looking to set up? What is your budget? Do you have any experience with plecos? Some can be tricky and some are pretty easy. You say you want something that not many people have or not many people breed. In the pleco world that usually translates into a heftier price tag but not always. If you want to try a hypan, I would strongly suggest L174. They are not easy to find and are not cheap, but the fry are always in demand. The main reason i suggest them is because these fish come from the Xingu River and with all that is going on down there, there is the possibility that these fish can disappear from their natural habitat. It is very important that we try to maintain them and any other fish from that region in the hobby. They are a very small hypan, similar in size to zebras. They have very small clutches of eggs and the fry grow at a snails pace. One of my favorite plecos that will always have a tank or 2 dedicated to them in my fishroom. There were some wc ones available recently and if i didnt have a colony already i would have jumped all over them. In my opinion you cant go wrong with them and the investment is well worth it. But then again this is coming from a plecoholic that is usually blinded when it comes to prices on something i want.
