Just wondering if anyone wants to trade for Giesemann actinic+, Giesemann aquapink, or UV Lighting company Ultra Blue 454 (2). I've got too much blue (as it was a saltwater lighting setup previously...). The actinic and aquapink combo isn't bad, but the side with two actinic is massively blue.

Maybe someone out there needs to add some blue to their fish? These are the 54 watt 46" T5-HO lamps.

I'm also open to suggestions on where to go pick up a new bulb in the Portland area, I've never shopped for bulbs before. I'm guessing some saltwater store would have more options for T5-HO vs. a freshwater place.

Where do you find the LED spotlights/floodlights for $14?

Energy wise it would be ~80w vs ~216w. So at 6.778 per kWh @ 6 hours on a day I get 480w and 1296w 3.25 cents a day vs 8.28 cents a day. $11.86 a year vs. $32.06, a savings of $20.20 over a whole year, so I'm not too worried about that. As for bulb life, T5-HO have a rated life of ~20,000 hours while most LED's seem to be about ~25,000 hours. At my rate of 6 hours a day I can run T5-HO for 9.13 years vs. 11.42 years. Again, a savings but not by a whole lot.

To compare, my pump is 145w, running 24 hours a day. That's $86.09 a year. My heaters total 800 watts, and run for what, 5 hours a day? (I have no idea). That's $98.96 a year. Total energy cost per year for my tank, $217.11. Or .59 a day.

I have no idea why I just did the math on all that, but I guess it was interesting to figure it out.

Show me a T5HO bulb that really lasts 20,000 hours lol. I used to do pretty dedicated planted setups and have used just about every type of lighting. BTW on my 225 there is only 40 watts of light, and they cost me about $80. On my 125 there is only 20 watts and it cost about $40.

Well for reef and planted setups 20,000 is a stretch because they degrade over time. For simple fish only tanks the wavelength doesn't matter. I have fluorescent bulbs on my smaller tank right now that were in it when I got it used when I was 17, almost 10 years ago. The tank has been setup about 90% of that time. They're not T5-HO's of course but are T12's. Pretty sure T8's and T5's weren't around for the aquarium trade then. :)
