Ok first off does anyone know how to tell the sex of an oranda I have no idea and second when will they start breeding and laying eggs?

Usually the male will get breeding stars. When you look at their butts males tend to have an innie and females an outie. To get my fish to spawn I used to keep the tank by the window and do lots of water changes. The water would be a hair warmer and I fed them a high protein diet. I swear everytime there was a full moon they spawned. The male will usually chase the female and the female will look a little rounder because she will be full of eggs. Hope this helps you

Males have white spots on their gills.........Tubeicycles, check spelling...........Females are usually rounder and more plump around the belly(eggs)...............
