Hello everybody. I have several G. tapajos "orange heads" that I am currently unable to sex. I have a total of 9, with the largest being about 5" and smallest ~4". They are broken up into a group of 5 in one tank and 4 in the other. Out of the 2 groups only one has shown the male traits. He grew faster than the others, is slightly larger than most and has fin extensions. The others show nothing. At what size would the differences in sex become more apparent? Is there anything else that I could/should look for? At what size are they considered mature? I've seen ZERO mating activity.

Thanks,

Lamar

p.s. Here's a pic of my only orange headed, orange head:

Well, I can say with certainty that sexual maturity comes in thirteen months... two of my OH juvies, born last June, just laid about 50 eggs today.

I didnt know till one started laying eggs that I had a female. I thought from there that I had 3 females and 1 male, cause they were all the same size and only 1 had male traits.. But over the last 2 months or so they have all matured and I now have 3 males and 1 little female... Just depends on the fish I guess...
