So in a very old post of mine I did a little project crossing some aquarium strain convicts. The male, I raised myself, his parents were marbled 'HRPs', but he turned out all white (with the platinum sheen and red fins of course)
His mate looks like a normal, very colorful wild type convict.
Turns out his mate was carrying the pink gene, so a quarter of the fry came out pink, a quarter came out platinum, a quarter came out looking like normal convicts and the other came out looking like what I'm assuming HRP fry look like (shiny blue/silver). I guess that goes to show how different color genes act with different species (the shiny platinum being exclusive to HRPs and the matte pink being exclusive to convicts)
However now some other things are popping up. There's some blue ones that don't have stripes, and my favorite-

this little orange one.
and it isn't just lighting, because the closest I can see to it in coloration would be the pink ones, which at that size were starting to turn white. I pulled him(?) and am growing him out in his own tank. We'll see how he turns out.
