Hey guys, topic came up on another forum and I decided to research...a member bought some Rainbows (Herotilapia multispinosa) online, but they were sold as "orange" rainbows which they claim is another colour varient of the normal rainbow. This is the link the member provided to show the difference (pics off to the right):

What do you think? Anyone ever heard of these before?

I have about 10 or so. They are an orange morph of the regular Herotilapia multispinosa. They change colors from half black and orange to more of a yellow-orange. I like them Ok. They are not too aggressive and will almost eat out of your hand. As far as I know they are a legitimate color morph of the real thing. One thing I don't like about the is that are hard to sex.

Here are some photos.

don't know max size thinking 6-7 inches, they are not the most aggresive fish, however they don't tolerate being bullied by similar sized cichlids

I am pretty sure that they about 4.5 - 5 inches max. They are holding their own against my red points, med - sized veija's, tuba cichlids, and dwarf crencichla's.

I've kept Rainbows with SA cichlids like a couple of Aequidens and more robust Geo's (red hump, etc.), and severums, but also CA cichlids like H. nicaraguense and firemouths.
