orange rusty looking stuff

Came home and I see like a rusty looking growth on my rocks and some of the sand. WTH is this? Never had it before.

doing some research tells me this happens due to high nitrates? I tested them (with test strips and they were not quite zero but maybe 10 ppm.

change your water and wipe the rocks.

Rinse several times before restocking
