Either I'm going crazy or these things are sexually dimorphic, I could have sworn I started with 20 roaches, 1 male and 19 females - but now it seems some of them have sprouted wings and I've got 7 males and 13 females!

Does anyone know much about them?

I just bought myself a starter colony on Saturday. They're all still nymphs. But yeah the males have wings and the females don't.

These aren't nymphs, though, they're all 2-3" long...and they came in as 1 male and 19 females, but now others have sprouted wings - without a shed!

I'm so confused.

I don't know what to tell you man. Possibly some of the ones you thought were females were just immature males who hadn't grown wings yet.

soooooooooooooo, the wifes and girlfreinds still come over since you got a tank of roaches, because even though im into snakes, spiders and lizards, its hard enough to explain that.Let alone roaches in the house,id have to keep them in a garage to keep from grossin myself out, lol.

yea and I'm pretty sure they shed, mature male's body shape don't even resemble that of the females, males have the elongated body while the females have the shape more like the nymphs.

I have to confess Jason, I haven't exactly told my wife about them yet. Maybe I'll call them by their scientific name. That should bore her and through her off for a while....:grinno:

This species needs warm temperatures to survive so if one does escape, they won't live long at room temps.
