I constructed a 400 gallon heated pond this past summer with the intentions of keeping native fish. I am heating the pond in the winter becasue our weather can get pretty cold.
I purchased through aquabid 6 orange spot sunfish fry for my first stocking of the pond this past July. Well I thought they did not survive because I have not seen them, so I then stocked the pond with albino tiger barbs for the sake of having something in the pond till I can get more native fish.
This morning while feeding I noticed that at least three sunfish did survive!
So the question I have is temperature requirements for this species. If I keep the temperature in the low 70's over the winter will that be okay for the sunfish?
