When I was dipnetting bait yesterday at the river I pulled up a very strange looking fish indeed. It has the general body shape and stripes of a bluegill but some orangespots and some neon blue on the gill flap. Also it has the colorful flap unlike a pure bluegill. Once he colors up a bit I will get some pics up.

Something tells me that its not Orangespotted X Bluegill hybrid but you have a pumpkinseed...but then again please post the pictures. Didn't dipnetting for gamefish in Iowa is illegal?
I was actually dipnetting for carp for our throwline and for fishing. Caught a 2 pound 10oz flathead when we were fishing and something scaled one of the carp on the throwline..it was a 9 inch carp. Anyway the possible hybrid is still hiding and refuses to come out. I will try to get a pic up as soon as I can.
