i ordered a few fish on aquascapeonline.com last night. a wild oscar caught in equador, a wild green teroor caught in aquador and... A SILVER AROWANNA! always wanted one. he will go in my 90g with the oscar and green terror and one more oscar and a jag. doont worry this is not oermanent. only in the 90g untill they are big enough to not get eaten in my 180(currently houseing a 10 inch oscar, 14 inch oscar, 13 inch pleco and 16 inch ID shark. i might get rid of pleco, ID and oscar. all three of them are rescues. my 14 inchoscar i bough though. thewild oscar is 2-2.5 inches, aro at 3-4 and gt at 3. so they all have some growing to do. i lost a baby tiger O i bought saterday im returning today to get something else. not sure yet. maby a pacu?? lol i know they get huugee swo probably not. not sure yet. one kinda crazy question. can i keep a silver aro in a 180g permanetely? i probably do thave the chance to upgrade till im out of the house and prob out of college(im in 9th grade)

thanks

aros shouldn't be with cichlid really until they are 12" long, and then aro should always be atleast twice the size of the cichlids.

they will be growing up together, 3 inch aro with 1-2.5 inch oscars. and will go in the 180 at the same time, a time in chich i can remove my 2 current oscars. (14 and 10 inches) and put them back in once they aro and other oscars grow more. i jusr called awquascape because my sale was still pending. the aros dont come in until tomorrow so i will be recieving these fish wednesday

If your getting a baby aro it is best to raise it without any tankmates until it is 5-6". Then follow the advice below in order to increase your aro's chances of survival.

very good advice.^

Within about 3 years your going to need to get the arowana into a tank larger then a 180g. Unless you are too selfish to provide a proper sized tank for your silver aro. Sad thing is it happens all to often here on MFK
