just fill it with the sponges and leave out any bio media. but IMO the pump is not large enough to be an efficient mechanical filter.

My manual said that it could be done like cichlid2006 said and just run sponges or I bet you could just run sponges and Ehfimech. That way you would still get a little bio in there as well.

the manual has a few media combinations in. see what suits your situation best and if the pump is powerful enough to provide what you want then decide on a configuration.

Ive done a bunch of research and I got mine running primeee . Its all about your tanks personal needs. I like having options

I got a 2213 recently and just loaded it up with Biomax and Ehfi Substrat Pro. Switched the coarse filter ceramic rings with biomax from an AC110. But still have a small bag of bio max in the AC110. The 3rd filter is a Whisper 60 filled with just sponges.

Added 2213 to a well filtered 55g but will transfer it to my 29g. I have a fluval 404 on the way lol

I would get some AC70 sponges for your HOB(you may have to custom fit). Use the HOB strictly for mechanical and clean it often. The sponges are easily rinsed and reusable.
exactly what we used in my mom's Top Fin 60...not sure we even had to cut them...2 pads per side (come in boxes of 3, iirc).
