Make sure you buy a power head aswell!!! lolol Eheim = ZERO flow/circulation.
I dont understand ? I got a HOB and an undergravel where does this power head need to be ?

Its rated at 164 GPH thats not bad if it reallly filters the water well.

You don't need to get a powerhead. I'm sure punto is just from the Tim Taylor School of macho mucho filtering.

The eheim that you got coming will do a fine job of filtering your 55g.

Thanks Bderick67!

I do have a powerhead Can I somehow incorporate it with the Eheim is that what he's implying ?

you do not need power head. I have a 2213 Eheim on my 30 african chiclid tank and 2 2217s on my 150 gallon tank. Only time I had a flow rate problem was when the siphon tube clogged on me. It happened once on the 2213. otherwise they have been flawless

Thanks guys!

here's a good link for you if you decide to fill it like they suggest.

http://www.rexgrigg.com/Eheim Classic Canister instructions.htm

unlike the other eheim classics yours will have a single bucket thing that comes out that you fill with all the stuff.

1 L ehfimech, coarse pad, 2 L ehfisubstrat, fine pad.

Actually the 2213 has the bucket that comes out, the 2215 and 2217 do not. There are threads on here that show ppl how to mod the 2213 though to make it work without the "bucket" to increase the amount of media that it will hold. I have a 2213 on a 29g and it works great. I am putting 2 2217's on my 180 and think that will be fine as long as I don't overstock.

is it possible to set one of these things up strictly for mechanical just wondering if so how. (2215)

just fill it with the sponges and leave out any bio media. but IMO the pump is not large enough to be an efficient mechanical filter.
