I was going to get the glasscages 240 (96x24x25) for 800 today when my LFS told me 1200 for the 265 gallon pefecto (84x24x30). I was writing the email to glasscages when the LFS called back and talked me into a Acrylic 220 (84x24x25) for the same 1200. I would have liked to had the extra foot but decided having acrylic with a 10 year warranty vs a 90 from a local vender is worth it.

Said it wil take 3 weeks to make.

wow

Congrats! Any specifics ? Black back or bottom ? dimensions ? In any case sounds great what kind of filtration / stocking you got planned ?

Clear acrylic all the way around (84x24x26) Will be drilling two 2" over flows to hook up to my 55 gallon sump.

I will have 5 bala sharks, 1 Rainbow Shark, 1 Red Tail Black Shark, and one Paradise Fish.

I would put the support 2x4s between the top and bottom 2x4's instead of attaching from the side, there will be less stress on the screws/bolts.

Ditto. Definitely put the 2x4 supports under the top frame, not on the side with screws. If you put them between the frames, so the top sits directly on them, you only need one every 24", rather than what looks like every 6". I just build a 4x18 footprint stand that is 33" tall, and I only put supports on the corners, meaning a support every 4 feet.

I am kind of confused. the support legs are 4x4s there will be a 2x4 on the bottom and top of the support legs. then on the top of the stand I was going to place 2x4 going a cross width wise. So the top would have 2x4 laid flat one next to the to the other, from end to end creating a 4" thick top for the tank to sit on. So I am not sure I understand what you mean but attaching the 2x4 from the side?

This is my first real DIY stand so all suggestions are welcome, and forgive any dumb questions I ask.

This is for an acrylic tank so the top has to be sold to support 100% of the bottom of the tank. basically this is built just like a floor with the 2x4 that run across the 4x4 legs acting like floor joist and the 2x4 going across the joist to form a solid surface. I guess the 4x4's in this example would be the studs in the basement wall supporting the floor joist.
