I am planning on ordering a filter(s) shortly and I have been told that I will be able to get a 200+ gallon tank towards summer time. Would one api filstar xp xl and one magnum 350 be sufficient for a 300 gallon maximum (no space for larger) or do yall recommend something else within a reasonable distance of $150?
Note: I currently have the magnum 350

With that size tank I would really suggest a sump or wet/dry. For $150, you could definitely build your own and fill it with plenty of pot scrubbies. Your biggest purchases with the sump or wet/dry would be the smallish tank and the pump. The larger the sump the better, but depending on what you did you could probably get by with a 29g+.

Right now I have a 100 and no where to put a sump, but I how much would it cost for the pump since I could get a 40 or 75 gallon tank really easily

You can get Laguna max flow pump for under $200 at Petsolutions. It's a pump with great flow and energy efficient. I am currently running rena XP3 on a 265g tank with some sponge filters for a lightly stocked tank. It's enough to get by but it's by far my ideal filtration setup.

75gal sump

Ill get a 75 or as large as possible once I get the tank because I don't have anywhere to put it currently but I might just use my current 100 as a sump since I have it...

Partition off a large section and grow pothos for nitrate filtration
