Orino cichla buddy suggestions?

I know O's have a rep of being pretty mean, what are the better basses to keep with them? Well better question are any too timid to be one the only 2 basses in the tank? Id like a xingu, kelberi, or azul. Would it be a better idea to wait till I can get 2 more? I wanna stick with 3 bass total I only ask because when I tried introducing another O it beat the hell out of it

Took a recent pic of the O, filling out quite nicely on hikari cichlid gold, hikari floating carni sticks and frozen krill and blood worms. I'm hoping the gold bars connecting the tail to the rear body bar comes out more, there's a slight red on the bottom of the tail coming in you could see in the light, but I thought Os don't have tri color tails?

My Orino killed my Xingu I'd just get more Os n do species only

Oof I was worried they may be too aggro for anything else but each other. I might be able to sell him to my buddy (his mono just died as he was trying to break it to pellet) so I can keep the more impressive basses. Or just try to add a few other fish the O can target that'll be easier so he won't bother the prettier more expensive bass lol.

Would that work out or is it more just conspecific aggression?

Snapped a better pic of him during a WC just now, anyone think that the gold connecting his tail and body will fill out? His colors have for sure developed since I got him on pellet

Good luck. I have multiple target fish and my O ignores them n chases my Azul n Kel constantly. And as far as impressive, you can't beat a nice O. ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1386514192.009491.jpg

I hope mine turns out that nice! Mine is starting to confuse me though, I was pretty sure it was Orino but there's red coming in on his fin, very faint but its there. I thought Os didn't have tri color tails so maybe a hybrid? It was like 12$ so I didnt expect a nice wc I'm guessing its a farmie

Hmm I'm tempted to grab a couple of those baby Azuls aquascape just got in and beef them up in the 30 ga and try introducing them after a few weeks. If this O causes too many issues I'll separate them.

I'm actually having a bullying issue right now but the O is being bullied, my IT dat chases it practically out of the water and doesn't relent. Keeps chasing. Doesn't bite, just chase. I literally just watched it when I looked over at my tank just now.
