Hey guys what can I do about my Orino. He takes too long to eat and therefore doesnt get enough food. He'll hold the same mouthful for like 15 to 20 minutes trying to swallow it. He doesn't appear to be scared of anything, just slow at swallowing. I feed him cut shrimp cause he won't eat pellets. I've tried waiting for him to swallow and give him more, but it took me forever to feed them that day. I've tried cutting the pieces smaller, but then he just puts more pieces in his mouth at once and does the same thing. Sometimes he spits a bunch out after like 10 minutes of holding it. Is this just how he is or is there something I can do to make him eat like the others? Thanks in advance for your help.

How long has it been going on? I had similar issues that lasted only a week or so. I'd stay will smaller pieces and as long as it's not prolonged I wouldn't worry. He's still eating. If it stays bad for too long and he looks emaciated from not getting enough food then you may have to take the time necessary to feed him enough.

Tanks size?
Number of fish and sizes of fish?
Wc schedule? Temp?
What do you feed?

Happy to report that he has stopped :) He started pigging out a few nights ago. Oddly enough, it was on the same day that I added a silver arowana to the tank. Maybe it's just a coincidence but idk. Just happy to see his belly bulging each night :)

One of my xingus wasn't eating. He didn't eat for a week. After 5 days I got him some pellets that he mouthed but didn't eat. Day 7 I gave him bloodworms and the next day he started shrimp. They just take some time sometimes.

Thats good news! looks like u gotta budget more for shrimp :P
