Orino growth

In september of 2011 I got some rio meta orinos from snookin21 and I was hooked, I saw what seemed like awesome growth in them for a couple of months but then I went on vacation and left my nephew to take care of my fish while I was gone.
When I returned from vacation the water in my tank was very stinky and I could not see the back of the tank it was so dirty.
Every sense then I have seen very little growth in them and a couple have what seems like sunken cheeks. They vary from 5 to 7 inches.
Is that not good growth for orino's that are close to a year?
Are they stunted?

Well, next time I go on vacation my nephew will NOT be fish sitting for me.
What's bad is that my ocell's that I got 6 months ago already have a couple of inches on them and the tems I got a month ago are growing so fast that the should outgrow them in a month lol.
