I had these orinos a little over a year ago. I got 3 for $130 local.. From a store I really don't like, but I had to do it... Are these negros??? If so, I can't believe I sold them. These pictures were taken a few months after I sold them. I hate myself.......

They were brilliant DEEP green from when I got them at 3-4". They never spangled.

god those are beautiful. Not rio negros in my opinion. taking a wild guess, i'd say columbian. most venezuelans i see have more diamond shaped markings. cant believe you sold them!

From where I got them, I wouldn't even have thought they were wild.. They had no idea... He had them in a 70* tank and wondered why they had ich... I told him why, but of course he didn't believe me. He didn't want to sell them because he had them on 2 or 3 meds.

I have had a Columbian from Brian long ago. It wasn't very similar. He had long bars that just hinted at rosettes. These are much more circular than the columbian I had. And the lack of spangling, going straight to green so early was quite odd.

You will agree these are much more circular than most though?

yeah definitely different. lots of orinos you see have diamond shaped markings, and then you see some with round markings. you cant really go based off markings alone to know where its from, but i had read somewhere that venz had diamond and columbians were round, or i could have had it backwards.

either way, rio negros are distinctly different. look at the thread posted by michael just yesterday. here's a rio negro:

in my opinon, yours would have ended up looking just like this one (this is a buddy's of mine):

and here's his other guy with the diamond shaped markings. who knows where either of these guys are from

my 2 cents...i have read the same with the diamonds and circles but have talked to guys who owned orinos with the opposite. So im not to sure if thats just a myth or not:confused:. Hopefully more can chime in

and to make it even easier, this is mjuniorc's awesome orino, notice the resemblance?? maybe he'll share the collection point with you :)

ANDDDDDDDD, i have one that i have a feeling will look identical to yours as well. very round markings, solid blue dorsal. this guy is still small...

if i remember correctly last time i talk to MJ he said venz and I just got off the phone with RuckusLV and he said that his where Venez as well. Now this is a SWEEEEEEEEEET Orino, probably the sweetest one IMO...seems to be a bit of an oddball orino...

Yeah, that one is an oddball.

My Columbian Orino had BARS... not even diamonds... BARS. I grew him from 2" to 12". Then I bought one from an Asian store locally with diamonds. I got him at 12".
