Here is two pictures of the Orino pair that I bought from Snook21. I have kept other species of Cichlas but this is my first pair of Orinos. How old before they can breed? What age seems right for this pair, one is 11 inches and the other is 12 inches? What is the best food to feed them for conditioning for breeding? What temperature, pH, and lighting should I use. Sorry I am asking so many questions, I want to make sure that my pair of Orinos are getting their proper diet and will stay healthy.

Thank you for your time and replies!

:)

temp 82, PH 6.5-7.0 actinic lighting should bring out the greens in them and make there spots come out nicely. What size tank is that ? I would try Freeze dried krill, san francisco brand if you can get them to the top, market shrimp, even cut pieces of raw fish from your local grocery store, talipia. Goldfish, no good, high in fat and carry lots of ammonia, you'll end up with hole in the head. Shiners if anything from a tackle shop, or cast net for them in your local lake, river or stream.

Thank for the helpful information! Your help is greatly appreciated.
Do some Orinos have strictly just the spots or do some have both the bars and spots? Or does this change within age and location?

Thanks

Dom

:D Thank you all for the kind replies! I hope to breed this pair of Orinos!

Whats the best kind of food to feed them?

Dom

Shrimp, pellets, Massavor, krell (for bright colors) mussles are good as well.

nice! what they said ^ :)

they look just about the size to breed as for food id go fd krill, market shrimp, pellets (massivore if they dont strike the top of the water, nls xl or jumbo size) and feeders if you have the time and space to quarantine and stuff them with pellets first--lights id say try 50/50 bulbs if you can go multi bulb use actinics and 8000k bulbs
