I can't find the orino pellet training post.
Can someone paste it in this thread.

Thanks

Trying to get 2 of my stubborn orinos to eat pellets. 1 has eaten a few pieces but it likes to inhale chew and spit over and over.

What type of food and what do they eat right now? Starvation and you holding out works best mostly.

Dmacks thread is golden! Use that once they're big enough to hit most foods. Right now your job is to get them big and fat, don't really worry about trying to get them to eat pellets right away. And don't starve young cichla it will most likely end up in the death of a fish (I'm talking from experience) And since you have Orinos which don't have a rapid growth rate compared to most of their cichla cousins and tend to grow slower you just want to worry about them eating in general. But it is important that you make them familiar with all kinds of foods that way they won't be as picky. You will be fine and lets see some updates on these guys :)

Thanks for the tips.
I noticed today my 1 orino that actually ate some pellet chunks now took a step back and would not go for anything but bloodworms.
All 3 are eating bloodworms very well and seem to always be at the top and front begging for food.

Thats fine as long as they're are putting some weight on lol you should try bits of tilapia they should love as most cichla do, the more you diversify their diet the better.

How about shrimp in the mix as well ?

They are not getting anything live for sure.

If they're eating bloodworms then just add crushed pellets to the bloodworms you are feeding. Only feed a small amount at at time and always feed them in the same spot of the tank. They will spit them out at first but will eventually recognize them as food. Over time reduce the amount of bloodworms in the mix until you only adding pellets. It takes time and patience and will require a lot of water changes to get the pellet mixture out of the tank but it works.
