Orino Shoal? (Aggression)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've always heard that Tems were the more aggressive Pbass. At one point I had 2 Orinos and a Ocell, but one of the Orinos died. Not sure what caused it because it was fine when I left for work and when I got home it was dead. I sold the Orino and Ocell to Joey years ago. And about a year ago, I got 3 Orinos and they were getting along fine, but my Chinese Perch ate one of them. Then I sold the other two. But pretty much, I never had aggression issues with them.

Sorry about your losses Ben. I remember when Joey sold chinese perches. Everyone was struggling to get it off live and many accidents happened :irked:

Orinos are known as the pitbulls of the cichla world. Tems are usually pretty mean to. With a group of six you should be fine. I pretty much guarantee that one will set dominancey and the rest will just fall into place. Much better as a group so that the agression will be spread out, much like dats bro. Keep in mind this is fish by fish basis. In my group which consists of 2 azuls, 2 kelberis, 4 orinos, 1 mono...also ngt, ntt, it, at, aro, ray.....out of all one of the azuls rains KING!!!

I've got a group of 4 12-16" Orinos in my 180g and, while aggressive like no other, they seem to spread it out. Only rarely will they all gang up on one fish to the point of concern. For the most part, they bark but rarely bite.

my 14 are doing fine with no aggression. but it maybe because they have no where to move in the 10gal:ROFL:

azuls are more aggressive than orinos in my opinion. orinos do demand respect in a cichla pack tho

ive got 5 ranging from 7-10". there's aggression all the time, but its nothing bad. for the most part, they get along. my goal is to have a strictly orino tank down the road :)
