Do all orinos show spangling or only certain variants? when should i start to see more spangling and does water quality help?

all the orinos i have seen spangle and water quality is an important for any cichla to color up

what size are they? and whats their diet?

they are about 4-5 inches and their diet is mainly raw shrimp and hikari krill.

depends on the water.
better colors at lower ph.
not all show spangling all over their body.
but all have some sort of spangling.

if they are consistantly hitting the krill of the top you should try mixing in pellets...all i know it worked for me!!! then the bling factor became apparent!!! GL

water quality, food, and low Ph like what everyone above me had stated plays a role in their coloration. On my previous Orinos ive kept they had a full body spotting, full spangling and just the nicest colorations ive seen on any juvenile orinos ive kept ever since they became available in my area.

As mentioned above, water quality, diet, and tankmates affect coloration to an extent. What many fail to realize is genetics play a HUGE role in what a fish looks like. The best we can do is feed the highest quality foods available.

That said, I feed my Orinos a mix of Massivore, algae wafers (little secret...spirulina is a godsend for coloration), NLS pellets, shrimp, and tilapia, and my guys are blinged out.

how do i get my ph lower because it is currently at 7.6, i have driftwood.

p.s how do i make my water clear instead of yellow(from driftwood)
