The Orino i have that got messed up stopped eating, it was eating guppys i bred and not its just leaving em to my senegal. He got most of his tail torn off then held by the head for a second and i got him out. Hes a fighter, this happened 2 weeks ago and hes still going, i want to keep this guy alive so i wanted some more experienced bass keepers opinions on what i should do here

are there any foods that cichla will eat no matter what? that is very attractive to them for some reason?

is it something to do with the type of guppys i have? they are yellow and red

ive been doing really consistent 40% WCs every 2 days on the 30 gallon im buffing him up in, his only tankmates are a striped raph that barely moves and a albino senegal that is somehow beating him to the guppys.. been treating with pimafix melafix and salt. temp is at 82 but in the warmer part of the day gets up to 84-86.

Not an expert, but why don't you put him in a tank all by himself so that he doesn't have to compete for food? May be he can eat the guppy whenever he feels like then.

He is in a separate tank from the main group, the only one with him is an albino senegal and striped raph that barely moves. The Senegal shouldn't be eating anymore guppys, he's eaten 3 in 2 days so I'm going to put a pregnant female in with a few others and have her drop fry in the tank, see if the pbass bites on those

Does anyone have any other suggestions for quicker eating? My albino sen is so stuffed he won't eat for days and has tiny (3 inch) so my orino should be able to take the food

Other params are less then 10 ppm nitrate, 0 ammo, 0 nitrite, 7.5 pH, GH around 60 I believe and KH around 40 (as api test strip says)

Usually live would do it so I dont know anything else. You could try frozen blood worms I've always had good luck with them

Ive tried it all but unfortunatly came home to him all torn up dead.. i dont know if the senegal was going after it or if the striped raph freaked it out and it bashed itself, or just died from internal injuries. The senegal was eating him, there were little chunks taken out so i fed it to my water snake. Luckily he eats dead fish haha if the fish is small enough thats where it goes. Ugh he had some nice bright gold too
