well, when i checked my tank in the afternoon yesterday, i notice my orino's eyes got all cloudy and messed up.. it looked like one of my armatus tooth punctured its eye... WOULD THIS THING HEAL OVERTIME. i know the armatus got shank before by another armi but that one healed rather well.. how is this pbass gonna handle this same or worst injury...?

anybody went through the same ordeal...???

Neo did with his regular barramundi i dont think it ever healed..

if it is blind, and doesnt heal. You will have to take it out of the tank before it get killed

yup it usually heals pretty well with good water params

my old tem got a permanent scar after about the 5th shank to the eye lol

I read the title and thought,"WTF? Shanked?" which made me chuckle but now I know what you mean. I have had plenty of fish with eye injuries from fighting but I cant say the same for a puncture form a "saber tooth" but if it's not completely torn open I don't see why it wouldn't heal up fine. If the eye is just wrecked-it will stay that way. Sorry to hear but that is unfortunately the fish we all love so much and their typical behaviors. They just love to prove who's the baddest every day or in the least- at one point in time.
i hope it all works out for you.

its not blind.. cuz it can still see the food on that side of the injury and move that eye, but i'm sure its one hell of a blurred vision...the eye right now looks a lil bit deflated:irked:... my armatus are not really THAT aggressive yet.. that orino is more of the harrasser than the harrassy...LOL... i have an IT dat that is the most dominant in the tank.. but all these fish are still 8-10".. maybe someday there'll be a change in dominance... but aggression of the armati is within each other...

armatus become aggressive at the 10" range

be prepared for more injured tankmates

i can't wait.. lol... i've been waiting for a real monster to come out from these armatuses/armati.. hahhahaha watever... then i'll add the jardini.. hehehe JK but i do have one...

if the outter skin has been penetrated, likely it will scar ie deformed eye and/or shrunk or empty pupil. Most of the damage occurs not from the shank but from internal infection. cloud is on eye surface and easier to deal with but can develope into an internal infection. The degree of blindness depends on degree of best you can do is to keep the water clean. i use salt.
