Would a 220 gallon tank be good to breed orinos in? I want to get setup before I start looking for the fish as the majority of the expense is in the setup. I have wanted to try to breed these guys for a long time. Where is the best place to try and find some? Thanks

Check some of the vendors here I know Nick (N-E Cichlids) may have some.

Nick said he won't be getting anymore for a while. Mainly I'm wondering if the 220 will be sufficient. I want to get 2 or 3 Fluval FX5s for filtration and probably use sand for the substrate.

I've heard of some people getting their Pbass to breed in tanks as small as 180g. So I think a 220g would be good.

yea you could prob breed them in a 220. sand is no good.. it acts as a buffer

if dmack can get them to spawn in a 6x2x2..... why not a 220;)
best of luck tryn to find some tru orinocensis though... not sayin that you wont, but there alot of FaKeS floodin the market these days.....

yea it would work =] gets some pics if and when you find some! the demands for Cichla Orinocensis this year seems kinda high now than last years

I bred mine in a 125g ;)

i dont care about the species that uve breed but the whole being able to breed cichla is a gift the most people cant do. Live Up to It.
