Hi i purchased two of these like 2 monthes ago as little 2 1/2 inch fish LOOK AT JOIN DATE FOR BOARD now they are like 7 inches long and they look great but they are kind of boring and don't eat like how other fish i had used to ...these kind of hide and are shy and skittish at times... they used to be more active and out going when small.... do they change as they grow bigger? anyhow if i do decide to sell them what would be a good price to ask for these at this size and they both are pretty and i think they are male and female one has dark marking patterrns and the other is a light looking fish.

Thanks.

You're not a very good salesman. LOL. Your thread should have read:

"2 VERY HEALTHY JUVENILE ORNATE BICHIRS FOR SALE!!! Approx. 7" long each, and feeding regularly on a variety of foods. MAKE OFFER."

I'm just not that excited about Ornates, or I'd take you up on this offer. I heard somewhere though that they were pretty boring...haha.. best of luck to you.

Ben.

mine started getting more active at about 7-8 inches.. its not exactly the most exciting fish on the planet but its way more active than it use to be... hes very active once the lights go out..

They
are very healthy and always eat but i am used to fish like oscars and jack's and these things just don't eat like the other fish i had .
There is nothing wrong with them at all and they are very nice looking.

if you want active bichirs get rid of every hiding place in the tank.

Most people don't buy ornates because they are an active bichir. Quite the opposite actually. They are less active, but generally better looking, bichirs than most other species.

If you want active get some senegals, or other smaller species of that size. They tend to be far more active than their larger counterparts.

it's Not that they are not the most active... I hate the fact that when i go to the tank and feed them they don't even move to comne get there food it's boring just throwing food in there and waiting for such a long time for them to eventually eat it...so boring in fact most of the time i put food in the tank and just leave .....what fun is that? half the fun of owning a fish is when you feed it and they come to the front of the tank for food before you even get to put the food in and then when you do you can sit down and enjoy watching the fish.... and these ornates are just not doing it for me....BORING:(
