HOLY CRAP is what I thought when I saw that my ornate bichir had my motoro rays barb in his mouth going in backwards!!! At first I thought he go nailed, because he is the only fish that swims on or near the ray the most. But after watching him I realized that somehow the barb had fallen off and the ornate found it and thought it was food. I really hope he can pass the barb, this is the last thing I expected to happen.

I don't mean to be pessimistic but I just don't see how a fish could pass an entire barb through their digestive system without injury. I hope the best for you/your fish. I don't think there is much you can do to help.

I think I would be looking for a vet well versed in fish right now.
I imagine it may try to regurgitate but it will have barbs on it.

I think I remember reading something about a big pufferfish that ate a whole motoro stingray (juvenile), stinger and all and was fine later. I wouldn't worry TOO much but.. keep your eyes open.
What do you guys think....would it actually be digested or fully pass through?
If it passes through I think he might wince a bit....must be the fish equivalent of a vindaloo
