i recently purchased a del an an ornate- i know nothing about polys. any one have any hints or tips? how big do they usually get in the aquarium?

They are easy and will grow quickly as long as you feed them well. The delhezi will get about 13" and the ornate will get about 2'

my del is a pig. he swims around the top of the tank all the time. my ornate seems to be more of a bottom dweller.

Yeah, my Del was pretty active at first, but has settled down a bit. It WILL however tweak out first if the tank is spooked (loud noises or me cleaning , etc.). It also never misses a meal...

My Ornate I rarely see eat, but it is very active swimming the height of my tank vigorously, but when not exercising-sedate and reclusive.

My del and ornate are both very active. I got them around the same size and the ornate is outgrowing the del like crazy. At first i was feeding them blood worms and pellets and now i feed them market shrimp. Since the switch they've both blew up in size

i have been feeding them a variety of different pellets- ill try shrimp an see how they like it

Adult ornates usually range between 16-22", adult delhezis usually range between 12-15". The sizes yours will reach depends on their genes (which is probably the biggest factor), how well you keep up with maintenance, the temperature of your water, and your feeding schedule.
