ornate bichir price?

Hi all bichir lovers,

I'm new to bichir. One of my lfs have wild ornate about 4-5", and they asked for $40 each (they have only 2). Is this a good price?

And I also want to know what kind of bichirs are good.

Sounds reasonable although in the shop we were selling my 10-11" ornate for only £35 untill i bought her back

got my lil ornate for $40 USD at 3". and a 7" for $50. sounds like a good price. sens are the more common ones but they are all pretty good fish.

i just bought one for $25 and it was around 5 inches.... they have 3 more left....... they also have a 9 inch seny for like 14.99 so 15..... ornates sometimes are really lazy but get larger and look really really nice.

How big is your tank? Ornates get a little size to them, compared to Senegals.

that sounds good i got one for 55 at 3-4" and one at 10" for 50 because he had one eye iv seen some places having some 4-5“ for 120 in Ohio.

Good? I guess you mean what would work well in your tank. Pretty much any of them. Larger species are endlicheri, congicus (possibly too big) lapradei; there are some otheres that aren't as common. Smaller species like delhezi or palmas (there are 3 subspecies) get about a foot. Info on sizes

If you live in Australia then thats a ridiculously good price. Perhaps you should put something more useful than "my hometown" in your location...
