About 2 weeks ago I picked up a small 3'' ornate bichir. I have added him to my display aquarium which houses another bichir a solid fat 4.5'' albino Senegal bichir.
I have yet to see my ornate bichir be as active as the Senegal. I don't recall seeing him out and about scooting across the bottom.
I have yet to see he start eating. My albino gorges himself out on market shrimp and I think I got the albino to eat on the first week.
What can I do to bring him out more? There are plenty of hiding spaces so he should feel secure.
What else can I try feeding besides market shrimp?

The baby Ornate is still settling in also Ornate Bichir are less active ime with them. Small peices of Tilapia should be excepted. I suggest getting the Polys on pellet food also. The Ornate and Albino poly will not be compatible together once the Ornate outgrow's the Albino Bichir.

+1 to everything.

+10.:)
Also ornate are slower to be settled just like stated above.

UPDATE:
The ornate bichir as well as the endli endli bichir have been eating for weeks now. I have noticed growth on the ornate, he is becoming thick and chunky! They love earthworms and market shrimp.

All of my Sens ate their first day in the tank. My albino is pretty plump too. I think it is just Senegal personality that makes them active and hearty eaters. My Delhezi doesn't move around nearly as much.
