I have a 55 corner tank with 2 penguin filters and a uv filter in my tank now. I want to get an ornate bichir for this tank after i get some laterite and throw in a few plants. First i need to get rid of my oscar. But what elese could i keep with it. I want to keep maybe a firemouth or somthing cool .

Well first off since ornates easily reach 18+ inches your tanks really not big enough for an adult ornate let alone tankmates.I'd suggest either a smaller species of polypterus or plan on a bigger tank first. As for tankmates you're looking for non agressive mid- large sized fish

hmm thanks for the info. If i can get hands on a smaller one i will. Maybe a palmas or delhezi. I can get albinos easy but i dont really want to get one like that. Im thinking if i go witha smaller sized one could i go with one african knifefish, 2 african butteyfish, a synodontis cat, and either a Leopard Ctenopoma or a school of congo tetras(thank god for workers discount). do these plans look ok? This will only be my 4th biotope. idk whats up with me i can stand mixing continents for some reason

The Clown Loaches school on this guy-- a senegalus-- 10 incher-- when he's on the move in this 75 gallon. Also included are a 7" synodontis cat, a black ghost knife, 2 cubotai loaches and 3 corries. A swell comunity at the moment.
