Ornate Bichir with gars

Hey Guys, i wanna order a 8" Ornate Bichir, but i have 2 spotted gars at 7", will there be any problems between them?

It should not be a problem based on the size that you have mentioned. As long as the gar cannot fit the whole bichir into it's mouth, it should be okay.

Agreed, the Ornate at 8" should be large enough to not be a target and vise-versa. Tank size?

Don't worry, gar is too big for ornate bichir to swallow.

They should be fine, I've never had a problem with polypterus and gar and I have kept many species of each family together in various scenarios.

If your gars tail fin is one day missing you will know you have a problem.

need a bigger tank in the long run, but should be fine with compatibility.
