I picked up a 10in one and it seems like it stays on the top all day.Can it be bloat?or do they stay on top most of the times?

bichirs can get bloat but it is very pronounced and obvious, most of the time. bichirs like to hide in leafs and other floating debris on top so i would say no worries. they take a while to adjust to the new tank. good luck with an awesome fish!
