Visited a new LFS in the town near me and saw that they had some ornates for $20 each. Only thing is they were truly little more than babies, at most 2" in length. Worth it? How hardy are little babies?

Actually, to add to that, would an ornate be fine at full size with a full grown male jag 14"+, full grown male grammode 11"+, and a couple of full grown senegals or would all of the fish become food for it eventually? Just planning for the years ahead as I only have the senegals and grammode for right now. Thanks.

Idk if this helps at all... But I work at an aquarium store and to order a 4-6 inch Ornate Bichir would cost us around 15-20 bucks.... So we'd sell it at 30-40 bucks.. So it sounds like a good deal

Well at that size two things happen. The jag and Grammodes either kill it in the first day or two or, its considered such a non threat they ignore it.

I would grab one. I bought mine last christmas at around 3 inches. He is now 12+ inches. They grow very fast.

Aight, I'll probably be picking one up tomorrow at about 1.5" to 2" long. Anything I should be concerned about related to its size? How hardy are they at this size?
