ornate bichir

I am thinking of getting an ornate bichir alwas wanted one but didnt have a tank to house one. seen in the internet that they can be quite aggressive for a bichir was wondering what owners experience have been with them with other bichirs and various tank mates

I used to have an ornate bichir. Yes, definitely the most aggressive out of all my other bichirs. I found that it’s aggression reduced a lot when kept in groups of 3 and more.
I kept only an ornate and delhezi (stupid me) and the ornate constantly attacked my delhezi.

wow ok to be honest I had a large senegal that was very aggressive to my smaller senegal I had to sell it and warned the buyer about the aggression. So maybe better to keep with medium size cichlids then.

Had to place order online for an ornate prices have gon through the roof £57 some asking £100 depending on size . My local store who uaslly has them aid there are shipping problems with fish from the far east and africa due to covid so have to pay I an using tropco who have been very good fish come well packed no leaks and their fish always eat within minutes of placeing into a tank.

Not so much aggressive but territorial imo had 3 in a 180 gallon with a delhezi, endlicheri a purple wolfish , silver dollar and cichlids. Out of the 3 one would chase other bichir but actually allowed the wolfish to share her space lol.
