I know seneguls(sp.?) grow really slow and I don't really like that that much and they are kind of ugly. But I really like bichirs. I want to get myself another bichir but I don't want to go senegul this time around. Would an ornate have a faster growth rate then seneguls? Is there any bichir that grows faster than others? I really want to get another bichir I just need it to beable to keep up with the monsters:D . Thanks

Chad

For reference, my ornate grew 10 inches its first year, at 13 inches its growth in length has slowed but its girth is expanding very rapidly.

thats for the most part how mines growth has been

i picked up three 4-5" ornates in march, put them in 120g and now they are all 9- 10" so in about seven months they grew pretty fast but remember they are supposed to get 20"+, now a sene only gets to about 12-15" and in the same amount of time he went from 4" to 10" and is now only getting wider which is great. if you want a nice pattern but not a big bichir go with a delhzi 12-14" max good grow rate, great hunter and looks nice!!! so take your pick and have fun. in fact get one of each kind because i have six and will soon order number seven:headbang2 :nilly:  :naughty: :WHOA: :grinno: :screwy:

i got a two 4" ornate that grew to 8" in 3 months and the same with my 4 delhenzis. more than double the size. what i did was feed them continously. feeders, live black worm, market shrimp and krills. there bellies were always full and not a single day hungry. water change is done as much as 25-50% every other day. all 6 bichirs were living on a 10 gal tank with sponge filter and HOB. now i joined them on my 180 gal.:D
