i've had my ornate for a little over 1 year, the first couple of months he ate like a champ. at first he was growing at an amazing rate. but now, within the last couple of days, he as not eaten. i've tried with lights off and on. i end up having to take out the uneaten food. his usual diet is hikari massivore and lake smelt (gutloaded). his behavior doesn't appear to be any different, he just hasn't eaten in so long. he's getting pretty skinny to. I have not noticed any odd excrement, but could he have some kind of internal bug?

Not to hijack your thread or anything but this same thing happen to my palma polli. I feed my fish massivore too and it was eating fine so I doubt it's due to choice of food. My fish has not eaten for over 10days and his body is looking skinny too.
Have you inspect the fish to see if it's sick or has some sort of disease? Have you try feeding with the light off? I have had no luck with this method either so I guess I will try to wait it out.

my ornate is prone to multiple week hunger strikes...don't know why. He always starts eating again...
