How large do ornates get in the home aquarium?

I've seen there max size as about 2ft. Mine is currently 8-9" and has been since i bought it despite plenty of room and a good diet. Not sure if it was a returned fish or from the shops supplier so it may be stunted. I'm hoping when my 185 imperial gallon tank comes next month it will get a bit bigger.

in my experience theyre pretty slow growers. had a 8-9" for a year that was 10" when i sold it.

i disagree, they only have growth spurts then slow down at a certain size. IME the fastest is from 6" to 12". will have a 1" per month growth then pretty much slow down.
