Hi, i just got myself an 10'' ornate but in the last couple of weeks its developed a white fungas over its eyes.sometimes one eye and sometimes both.It usually goes away after a water change but im just curious to why it keeps happening and what i can do to prevent it.I have it in a 2x1.5ft growout with an 10'' endli.I do 40% water changes twice a week. Also, i was told that the ornate was 3 years old which i thought it was a bit small for a fish of that age.Any thoughts?

its the cloudy eye, It happens with mine sometimes, just keep a regular water chance, use salt if necessary for possible infections. Make sure that you have enough filtration in your tank.

It's way too small for a 3 yrs old ornate. Normally, a 3 yrs old ornate could be over 15".

The bio load of a 24"x1.5" tank holding a 10" ornate is probably way too much.

I'd recommend getting a bigger growout tank or adding two 25-30% water changes per week. Cloudy eye usually comes from less-than-good water quality. What are you using for a filter(s)?

I just reread and saw you also had a 10" endli in with it?

Also, I meant 24"x18"...

yeah its usually a sign of bad water, especially since you said it goes away after water change.

so you need to increase your filtration and increase your water change frequency in this tank.

Or you can get them a larger tank with more filtration, which is really what you should do.

i had the same problem. i just did water changes.

I do twice weekly,50% water changes and it doesnt seem to be enough.Looks like they'll be going to my mates larger tank to get some size on em.

it happens with my ornate sometimes while the rest seems ok, it will be back to normal but will take times.
