Are there some things that I should know when caring for ornates? Do they recquire anything special aside from the usual bichir care? Ive read that they are aggressive towards other bichirs, is this true? Cause Im planning on raising my endlis and ornate together. Thanks!!analso, I've noticed that when I first introduced him to the tank, he is very active and keeps on jumping. Is this normal? He's in a qt tank allalone.

ornates are very active bichirs.. its normal for it to be like that.. i think ornates are not that aggresive,.i have my ornate with endlis and del i havent had any trouble raising them ahehe

Nice! Haha. I plan on growing him out with my 2 endlis and a del. :) They're all around 2-3" so I think Im good. Kaso bro may problema. After puting my ornate in the qt he's been very active and was trying to jump. Now he's hiding and he looks very pale and tan. He used to be black now hes just brown. Could this be caused by stress? Or is my water bad? The qt is a 5gal established tank. I removed the platies in the tank before placing him in and did a 60% water change. I hope he'd be better tomorrow. May mga ornate pa pala sa cartimar 400 pesos lang bro 3" lahat. :) And may teug din sila ang gaganda kaso medyo malaki na around 5-6". 950 naman. Kung lumaki onti yung mga bichir ko bibili ako ng teug hehe. Thanks sa reply!

Some people say ornates get aggressive, but IMO it depends on the poly. My ornate for one is one of the most active in my tank as well as one of the shyest (spelling?). As far as him jumping he's just probably checking everything out etc.., and is a little skittish. I know i'd be a little scared a skittish if i was taken form the place i know and put somewhere completely different. And on it looking pale, I wouldn't worry about it right now. You said you just got it so i would wait a week or so then start start seeing if somethings wrong, because he's probably just adapting.

Thanks for the input! He's alone in the dark right now with lots of hiding places and he seems to have calm down a bit. But his colors are far from when I got him earlier huhu. I really like the guy tho. My first ornate! I really took my time at the lfs picking this guy out. I hope this one turns out active and friendly! How big is yours? Id love to see some pics! :D
