so i picked up my first ornate on saturday and i havent actually seen him eat, now that doesnt mean he isnt eating... all though i tossed in a peice of talapia one night and he bite it and spit it out... now im curious how long can he go without eating or when should i start to worry about it, and what other stuff can i try to feed ? i have sinking hikari pellets for him i have grocery bought shrimp from a shrimp ring as well as some frozen mysis shrimp, and frozen talapia.....

give it a lil time, might still be adjusting to it's new tank. i wouldnt worry untill your ornate is looking thin.
ya i called the store where i picked him up and they said he was only eating every 3-4 days there anyway, and they were feeding little fish, massivore, algea wafers and he take em like crazy... he said give him about a week without eating and try again and if that dont work he said try some small feeders and see if there gone in the morning, or try feeding sinking pellets when i get home from work 12 at night and the lights are always out then too

came home form work 12pm the other night all the lights off except the kitchen light and tossed in some sinking pellets and some fell down right into the tube he hides in and sure enough he ate it !! woot woot 
and the ther kinda went and floated to back of tank not really near him but woke up and they were gone so either he eats them or the severum or oscar eats them lol.... but none the less he did eat a pellet that i witnessed hahaha so glad he is eating was worried about him not eating... so maybe thinking i'll only feed him once a week or every weekend as the store said he would only eat every 3-4 days that way once a week will keep him intrested in food
