i have a 55g laying around and im pretty sure i want to get an ornate or 2 for it. i was also thinking of 2 firemouth cichlids for tankmates. i would do sand substrate, some driftwood/rock work and a xp3 and ac110 as filtration. i might be able to get a bigger(75 or 90) tank before i set it up because i have to move this summer and i wouldnt start the tank before i move. would this combo work out.

Ornates can get to 2 feet long. Those tanks would become too small for an ornate. Senegals or delhezi would be a better choice.
Once you get an Ornate you will probably want to buy a bigger tank, they are amazing fish. But making sure you have the right sized tank is key.
